The cottage boasts two outside “stoeps” or seating areas. The front verandah looks out from under the “broekie-lace” roof onto the street where one may keep an eye open for dog-walking pedestrians and the occasional horse or donkey ambling by.
The outside stoep”/verandah has a built-in seating area with cushions and is located in the well-maintained greenery of the garden, under an over-hanging tree. On this stoep one may view the breath-taking Riviersonderend mountain range. There is a fire pit, a loose standing braai, as well as a small Weber here for braai-ing. Barbeque utensils, a grill and gloves are provided. There is a small blue pool visible from this stoep, perfect for refreshing swims on Greyton’s hot summer days.
The two bedrooms boast very comfortable king-size beds, made up with crisp white linen, and warm duvets and quilts. The main bedroom is an en suite with a bath, while the second bathroom (not en suite) is fitted with a newly built shower. Bedside tables with bedside lamps are beside both beds.
The comfortable living room space is well appointed with two couches and a soft ottoman for feet resting. The small wood burning stove warms up the space very well on cold winter nights. There is a television (with DSTV), as well as a DVD player in the living room space. The well-stocked bookshelf might provide some reading material and there is also a selection of excellent DVD series and some puzzles.
The kitchen is fitted with a kettle, a toaster, a gas-burning hob, a medium-sized fridge and a slow cooker. There is no oven. There is a kitchen table surrounded by five comfortable cane chairs, and a beautiful blue larder/cupboard filled with crockery, wine glasses, cutlery, salad bowls, tea cups, mugs and cold drink glasses. Plastic glasses and plates are provided for children. Cooking basics like pots and pans as well as cooking utensils are provided. There is a stove-top kettle for load shedding.
There is parking inside the property, behind a gate, under a carport.
Not only is the cottage close to the main centre of the village, one may also walk up to the Greyton Nature Reserve which has a number of mountain walks ranging from family-friendly short walks to the very challenging walk across the mountain to McGregor.
Good mountain bikes routes are also close by, and Greyton boasts a bustling mountain bike community.
The house is fitted with an alarm system, and is monitored by an alarm company, as well as Perspex burglar bars on the windows.
There are battery-operated lights for load shedding. A TV with DSTV, some very good DVDs and a DVD player.
There is no Wi-Fi provided. There is also no cover for the pool, please be careful if you have children who are unable to swim. No washing machine.
Extras: battery-operated lights for load shedding, a hairdryer, extra fluffy blankets for winter and outdoor furniture. We sometimes allow (only the best-behaved) pets upon request.
