This light-filled studio is fully equipped with four top-of-the-line electric wheels, a slab roller, and an electric kiln. The studio opens onto a charming outdoor courtyard that leads into a lush garden—an oasis where you can relax and immerse yourself in the tactile world of clay. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced ceramic artist, Perdekop provides a serene environment to nurture your creativity.

Tuesday Evening Open Studio

Join us every Tuesday evening from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM for our Open Studio sessions. These informal evenings are ideal for both beginners and experienced potters. WhatsApp us to book your own wheel and create at your own pace. Each session costs R250, which includes all materials and a complimentary welcome drink. With a small group size, you’ll receive personalised attention—beginners will be guided through the basics, while more seasoned potters can enjoy uninterrupted creative time.

Introduction to Wheel-Thrown Pottery – One-Day Workshop

Our Introduction to Wheel-Thrown Pottery workshop offers a comprehensive one-day experience for those eager to dive deeper into pottery. This hands-on session covers all the essentials of wheel throwing, from wedging and centering to pulling up cylinders. Although it can be messy and challenging, we encourage a relaxed and patient approach—after all, the process is as rewarding as the finished piece.

The day begins at 10 AM with coffee or juice, followed by wheel work from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM. A light lunch is served from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM, after which we’ll continue until 3:00 PM. The cost is R1,400 per person, which includes all materials, tea, and lunch. You also have the option to return the next day for a 1- to 2-hour trimming workshop.

One-on-One Beginner Workshops

If you have some spare time and are eager to try your hand at wheel throwing, we offer 2-hour immersion sessions for R500. These sessions are by appointment only and provide a perfect introduction to the craft in a personalised setting.

Studio Space for Experienced Potters

For those who’ve completed an introductory pottery course or are avid potters, we offer our studio space for you—and even a few friends—to explore your creativity. We can also curate a bespoke pottery and food experience tailored to your interests.

Guest Potter Weekend Workshops

Occasionally, we host Guest Potter Weekend Workshops, where experienced ceramic artists share their expertise on specific techniques. These immersive workshops are perfect for seasoned potters looking to refine their skills. Past workshops have focused on creating and refining jugs, bowls, and other advanced forms. Alongside the pottery, participants can enjoy afternoon refreshments, light lunches, and the chance to join us for a scenic village walk or a hike in the surrounding mountains. Costs vary depending on the workshop.

Small Group Sizes for Personalised Attention

At Perdekop Pottery Studio, we maintain intimate group sizes to ensure personalised attention. With a maximum of four participants per session, each person receives one-on-one guidance, creating a more enriching and tailored experience for all.
